Description
The indicator paper is impregnated with a reagent which, when it comes into contact with the solution to be analysed, will change colour depending on the pH of the solution.
The use of paper is an easy, economical and fast method for the analysis of the pH in aqueous solutions in a matter of seconds. This practical method is widely used in laboratories, in industry, in laboratory classrooms, schools, in the field, in swimming pools and aquariums.
USAGE
The pH paper test strip is immersed for a few seconds in a liquid solution to be tested for acidity or base/alkaline. After about 10/15 seconds the colour obtained on the pH indicator paper can be compared with the colour scale supplied and each colour measures the pH range, thus the level of acidity or alkalinity of a solution is known. The paper turns red with acids and blue with bases.
The measuring ranges of the pH scale go from 1 to 14.
Acid: 1 to 6
Neutral: 7
Base or Alkaline: 8 to 14
The use of paper to determine pH is not as accurate as a pH meter (pH meter) which provides exact pH measurement results, whereas pH paper only generates a pH range.
